Chrysal, a global leader in flower care products, has released its first sustainability report, outlining the company’s commitment to building a more sustainable flower industry. The report details Chrysal’s sustainability strategy, progress in circular packaging, and efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
Chrysal will showcase its latest innovations in sustainable flower care at the FloraHolland Trade Fair in Aalsmeer from Nov. 4–6, where visitors can learn more about the company’s sustainability initiatives at stands 1.48 and 1.49.
The report marks the beginning of Chrysal’s sustainability reporting journey and reflects the company’s dedication to transparency and continuous improvement. It incorporates several approaches aligned with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and outlines progress made since 2022 toward full compliance. Highlights include Chrysal’s Double Materiality Assessment, value chain and stakeholder analyses, and a set of defined actions, targets, and metrics addressing key material topics.
“Sustainability is at the core of our strategy,” said Remko Muntinga, CEO of Chrysal. “Our goal is to build a flower industry, together with our partners, where we can enjoy flowers without harming the planet or people. This report not only reflects our current efforts but also sets the stage for future initiatives aimed at achieving our ambitious sustainability targets.”
The report is organized around four core pillars that define Chrysal’s sustainability strategy: fighting climate change, contributing to a sustainable economy, caring for people, and striving for a positive environmental impact.
Under Fighting Climate Change, the report highlights measures to reduce the company’s CO₂ footprint, including optimizing logistics with sea freight services—a solution that significantly lowers emissions compared to air transport. In Contributing to a Sustainable Economy, Chrysal shares its advancements in reducing plastic waste through recyclable and sustainable packaging innovations, such as its eco-friendly sachets.
Chrysal’s sustainability approach is integrated throughout its operations, with every department contributing to the company’s goals. Employees across all levels participate in workshops and set personal sustainability targets, reinforcing the company-wide commitment to a greener future.
