Weis Markets announced it has donated $170,000 to Paralyzed Veterans of America — the nation’s only nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans with spinal cord injuries and diseases, like MS and ALS. Representatives from Weis Markets presented the check to PVA on Nov. 13 at the company’s Nottingham, MD, store.

This contribution was generated through a comprehensive four-week customer fundraising initiative during October, combined with a corporate donation. These funds will advance PVA's vital mission to help our nation's most severely injured and ill heroes receive the specialized healthcare, meaningful employment opportunities, and earned benefits they deserve.

"We're honored to support PVA, an organization that provides essential resources to those who have sacrificed for our nation," said Maria Rizzo, vice president of marketing and advertising for Weis Markets. "Having employed thousands of veterans throughout our history, this partnership embodies our enduring commitment to those who have served. PVA creates meaningful change for veterans and their families, and we're proud to advance this vital mission together."

“Our nation’s paralyzed and disabled veterans are at the heart of everything we do,” said Carl Blake, CEO of Paralyzed Veterans of America. “Support from partners like Weis Markets makes it possible for us to continue providing the services, research, and advocacy our members rely on as they navigate their new lives. We’re deeply grateful to have them stand beside us in this mission year after year.”

PVA’s partnership with Weis Markets dates back to 2016 and has amassed more than $3 million in donations. It also includes involvement in vital PVA programming, like its Honor the Spot public service announcement, which was filmed in the parking lot of their Brunswick, MD store and raises awareness about the importance of accessible parking spaces. This PSA is still in rotation today.
