Gino Scialdone, long-time Dole employee, was 75
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA -- Dole retiree Gino Scialdone died Aug. 15 after battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, more commonly known as ALS or Lou Gherig's Disease. He was 75. Mr. Scialdone retired from Dole in 2002 after more than 40 years of dedicated service. In 1960, he joined Standard Fruit & Steamship Co. in New Orleans as a railroad fruit inspector. In 1964, while working, he attended Loyola University School of Labor Relations & Management in New Orleans. In 1966 after the closing of the New Orleans terminal, he moved to the new Gulfport operation and was promoted to terminal manager
