New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Edward D. Wengryn and other state and local officials recently kicked off the 40th anniversary of Jersey Fresh with a visit to Consalo Family Farms. “We are proud to be one of the growers that plays a role in making Jersey Fresh produce available to everyone,” said Chelsea Consalo, Consalo Family Farms executive vice president. “The Jersey Fresh season is here and we anticipate having an outstanding season. Our family plans to maintain our agricultural tradition for the generations to come.”

The Fresh Produce & Floral Council held its 2024 Expo, Fresh Forward, on Wednesday, May 1, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. The day kicked off with the Keynote Breakfast, featuring the presentation of the prestigious Floral Achievement Award and the Norman H. (Buz) Bolstad Award. Chef Jeff Henderson, an award-winning celebrity chef and best-selling author, was the Celebrity Keynote speaker. The show floor was a packed with exhibitors and retailers throughout the day.

The South Carolina Department of Agriculture and the Eastern Produce Council hosted a night at the driving range at Top Golf in Edison, NJ, on April 30. The event marked the 52nd year of the SCDA and EPC relationship. Prior to tee off, Hugh Weathers, the SCDA commissioner, along with his team, promoted the crops the state offers, which include peaches, watermelon and specialty crops.
