ShopRite started its annual Check-Out Hunger campaign, a holiday-season fundraiser that invites customers to support local food banks by adding a donation at checkout. Running now through the second week of the new year, the campaign unites ShopRite stores across the region in a shared mission to help neighbors facing hunger during one of the busiest times of the year for food banks. The New York Apple Association is gearing up for the upcoming New York Produce Show, where it will showcase the pride and flavor of New York-grown apples at booth Nos. 551–553. This year’s exhibit will feature a 20-foot-wide display highlighting the state’s incredible apple diversity. The presentation will include colorful display shippers filled with New York apples and striking visuals that bring the orchard to life. Representing the association at the show will be retail account managers Susan Sarlund and Laurie DeLong, along with president and CEO Cynthia Haskins.

Next Big Thing, an agricultural cooperative formed when the SweeTango apple variety was developed by the University of Minnesota in 2006, is looking forward to attending the New York Produce Show & Conference to strengthen relationships within the produce industry and showcase the unique qualities of SweeTango apples.

Royal FloraHolland announced it will permanently discontinue the reusable Fc510 flower box, effective Friday, Jan. 2. The cooperative said the decision, first signaled last May, stems primarily from high costs associated with the box’s limited seasonal use. Royal FloraHolland noted that a range of alternative packaging options is available for customers. Following consultations with the FPC Amaryllis and multiple users, the organization decided the Fc510 will be phased out after the 2025–26 season, allowing growers and buyers time to transition to other solutions.
